Debt Caseworker

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Debt Adviser/Caseworker to join our specialist debt team at Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire (CASG).

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to people experiencing financial hardship, helping them understand their financial situation, explore their options and take steps towards long-term financial stability.

Our clients are often experiencing crisis situations, stress and vulnerability. We are therefore looking for someone who combines strong debt advice knowledge and problem-solving skills with empathy, patience and a non-judgemental approach.

You will be responsible for managing your own debt advice caseload, delivering accurate, high-quality and tailored advice, and supporting clients to achieve sustainable outcomes. This will include undertaking comprehensive income and expenditure assessments, advising on appropriate debt solutions, negotiating with creditors and supporting clients through complex financial circumstances.

The role requires someone who can work independently, exercise sound professional judgement and manage a varied caseload, while contributing positively to a supportive and collaborative team.

The salary will be £28,264 per annum for an adviser who is not currently an Approved Intermediary (AI) for Debt Relief Orders (DROs). The salary will be £33,551 per annum for an adviser who holds Approved Intermediary status. The salary reflects the additional responsibility and specialist knowledge associated with this authorisation.

You must be proficient in IT with effective communication skills.
