About the role
Join Citizens Advice Rural Cambs and make a real difference.
We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Debt and Energy Adviser to support clients facing financial hardship and fuel poverty. This is a rewarding role where you’ll provide tailored advice across multiple channels, face-to-face, phone, email, and online, helping people navigate debt, money management, and energy issues.
This is not a Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) funded position
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality advice and casework in line with Financial Conduct Authority and MaPS standards.
• Support clients with budgeting, debt options, energy bills, and accessing grants.
• Work in various locations including our contact centre and outreach locations.
• Maintain accurate case records and manage your own caseload.
• Contribute to research and campaigns to drive systemic change.
• Build partnerships with local agencies and stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with legislation and complete relevant training.
Person Specification:
Essential:
• Experience in debt and energy advice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to support vulnerable clients with complex needs.
• Willingness to obtain CertMAP and National Energy Action Level 3 Energy Awareness qualifications.
• Proficient in IT and case management systems.
• Access to a vehicle for travel (mileage allowance paid).
Desirable:
• Citizens Advice generalist adviser qualification.
• Minimum 1 year’s experience in debt and/or energy advice.
